Psychodynamic Psychotherapy (PD)

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is suitable for people with a personality problem. It's about people who want to find out why they run into (the same) problems over and over again in their lives and want to change them.

Purpose
In the first instance, we work on reducing your complaints and problems. In addition, we aim to make hidden feelings and thoughts aware in the treatment, so that you gain insight into the origin of your problems and you are able to process any unpleasant experiences.

Duration, frequency and form
There is individual psychodynamic psychotherapy that consists of weekly sessions. The treatment lasts a maximum of 3 years. We also offer psychodynamic group psychotherapy. This consists of weekly group sessions of one and a half hours. The treatment lasts 2 years.

Method
In individual psychodynamic psychotherapy, you explore the complaints and problems together with the psychotherapist. How that works differs from person to person. All kinds of things can be discussed in the conversations: how things have gone in the past period, what is going well, what is bothering you, things from the past that need to be discussed.

In psychodynamic group psychotherapy, you enter an existing group in which some people have been in a longer group and others for a shorter period of time. You work on the problems with the help of the group and the psychotherapists.  All kinds of things can be discussed in the group: how things have gone in the past period, what is going well, what is bothering you, things from the past that need to be discussed. It is not the case that a theme is determined in advance or that someone gets a turn. Each group member tries to make the best possible use of the available time to tell something about what is on his/her mind.

You can feel what you feel, it's not right or wrong

"When I registered with the NPI six years ago, I had no idea where it would take me where I am now. Recently I did a 'trip down memory lane' with my therapist. The emotions were present and I saw what I have been through in my life over the past six years. The connection I have found between the child in me and my adult. The motivation to break patterns so that I will not pass them on to my future children.

The 15-year-old girl never thought I would be here now: dependent on myself, my own place where I feel at home, with the most beautiful network around me. With self-love that I never thought I would feel and that is still developing. A phrase my therapist always said to me was 'that you can feel what you feel, it's not right or wrong'. I still use this sentence every day."
