Short-term Psychoanalytic Supportive Psychotherapy (KPSP-A)
Particularly effective for depression. KPSP youth is suitable for young people with chronic or recurring mood complaints. KPSP focuses on the link between complaints and the way in which the young person looks at himself. During treatment, the young person gains insight into how thoughts about themselves influence complaints. This improves self-confidence and can make relationships with others more satisfying. KPSP is an individual therapy.
Purpose
The goal of KPSP youth is in the first place that the mood complaints disappear. But since KPSP is not only focused on the symptoms, the way in which someone looks at themselves and others often changes during treatment, which improves vulnerability to mood complaints in the longer term.
Duration and frequency
The therapy consists of 16 or 25 sessions of 45 minutes, which are planned over six months.
Method
We will explore mood complaints and symptoms and see if there is a connection with life circumstances, relationships with others and the relationship with yourself. Together we look at whether changes are possible in your feelings, thoughts and behavior towards others and towards yourself. In the final phase, we pay attention to recognizing a relapse in time and what to do if so.
